European College of Gerodontology (ECG) will have a joint meeting with Scandinavian Society for Prosthetic Dentistry (SSPD) in September 2 – 4, 2004 in Helsinki, Finland. Meeting will focus on preservation of the occlusion of the elderly, which is an increasing challenge for the oral health care in many countries. The meeting will hold three main sessions, which are all constructed around invited lectures. Associations of general and oral health of the elderly will be discussed during the first geriatric session. This session will highlight some major concerns that will also affect prosthetic treatment in the elderly. Some interesting new data of a longitudinal Helsinki Aging Study will be presented during the session.
Two other sessions will talk about prosthetic treatment of dentate and edentulous elderly. Possibilities to employ recent advancements of fibre technology in the treatment of the dentate elderly along with traditional treatment modalities will be discussed in the first session while the final session will focus on the prosthetic treatment of pre-edentulous and edentulous elderly. Poster session will be organized between the main sessions.
All the registered delegates will be invited for the get-together reception, which will be hosted by the city of Helsinki. Banquet dinner will take place on Friday evening and it is included in the registration fee.
More information on the meeting, the venue and the city of Helsinki can be found from the 'venue and travelling' -page.
On behalf of the organizing committee we wish you warmly welcome to Finland.
